Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Where bold beauty meets conscious living.

Boutique interior styling and bespoke furniture restoration —
unapologetically maximalist, deeply sustainable, rooted in story.

About Mérite

Design for the cultured, the curious, the uncompromising.

Founded by Nabila Nasir — a humanitarian turned maximalist queen — Merite was born from the radical act of refusing to furnish a home with anything ordinary. After 15 years living across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Nabila returned to Kuala Lumpur with a design sensibility shaped by Paris flea markets, Nairobi craft traditions, and Beirut’s layered beauty.

What started as a 3,800 sq ft personal project became a full design studio, showroom, and movement. At Merite, furniture is never disposable. Every salvaged armchair and scratched cabinet has a story — and we give it a glorious new chapter.

PIECES TO LANDFILL

“We believe furniture should not be disposable. Each pre-loved item we restore has a story — and our job is to honour that story while adding a new chapter.”

Nabila Nasir — Founder

Online Store

Something beautiful is coming soon.

We’re curating a collection of restored statement pieces, hand-painted furniture, and maximalist accessories — each one rescued, renewed, and ready to find a new home.

Restored Furniture

Salvaged vintage and pre-loved pieces transformed with hand-painted motifs and bespoke detailing.

Curated Art

Local and regional artworks selected to tell stories, not fill walls. Every piece has a provenance worth sharing.

Decorative Objects

Textiles, ceramics, and handcrafted accessories sourced from artisans who make things built to be cherished.

Our Commitment

Maximalism can be deeply sustainable.

Malaysia generates 1.2 million tons of furniture waste every year, and 33% of Malaysians discard furniture still in good condition. We started Merite as a direct, beautiful refusal of that reality.

Our studio operates on circular principles — reclaiming, restoring, and reimagining so nothing of value ends up in a landfill. Off-cuts become cushions, leftover fabric becomes wall panels, and we partner with local artisans wherever possible.

Looking ahead, we’re building a training studio to upskill refugee and asylum-seeking communities in restoration, upholstery, and design — creating dignified pathways to income and creative expression.
